This week, staff members of REI Atlanta and REI Orlando came to Cumberland Island to help restore our beautiful trail system. We cleared miles of Saw Palmetto on Roller Coaster Trail - the most scenic trail on Cumberland Island. They celebrated their hard work once they reached the sand dunes! Hello!! In case you haven’t heard, I’m @joey_gaston. I’m heading the trail restoration project on Cumberland island. This is my first week and I’m spending my time analyzing the trails. I basically walk with a GPS and mark any giant trees that have fallen🌲. I also make notes on if the trails need to be widened or anything like that. Here’s a little snap of a google earth document I’m using to host all of the collected data!
